Our Group Idea : Solar Powered Cars

After the 3rd Grace lesson, our group managed to meet up and discuss on our Idea, Solar-Powered cars. Here is what we summarized :

Solar Powered Cars

Solar powered cars, unlike other ordinary cars, make use of the energy from the sun to move. By using energy from the sun, harmful gases are not produced and emitted into the atmosphere unlike cars running on gas. It is very environmental friendly and does not add to the greenhouse effect. If the whole world changes to solar-powered cars, it would save the Earth from up to 72% of nitrogen oxides and 52% of reactive hydrocarbons.

Website : http://bicycleuniverse.info/transpo/almanac.html

Here are some pro’s and con’s about Solar-powered cars, based on WIKIPEDIA.

Pros :

-Solar-powered cars do not harm the Earth

-Solar-powered cars make use of Light energy, hence, gas is not needed.

-Solar-powered cars, on the long run are more cost effective.

Cons : ( based on a Swiss project “Solartaxi” )

-A maximum 400Km range without stopping

-Only a maximum speed of 90KM/h, while traveling on highways, it might have problems.

-Unable to use in rainy days, or at night, where light is absent.
